Arrangement by Yoni Avi Battat, with inspiration from Layth Sidiq

This well-known Iraqi song was originally written about the pain of being left by a lover. In the context of this project, I reimagine the piece to express the sadness over long-gone ancestors, lost memories, distant ancestral homelands, and even the elusiveness of Arabic language itself.
